Robin Rose is a PhD student and Hourly Paid Lecturer at the School of Social Policy, Sociology, and Social Research at The University of Kent.
Robin Rose’s academic research focusses on the lived experiences of plurisexual individuals. Their doctoral thesis researches the feelings of belonging of bisexual individuals (and other plurisexual identities) within LGBTQ+ spaces: Using feminist frameworks and ethnographic research methods to gain insight in the spatial and affective (re)negotiation of sexual and romantic identities that suffer from double discrimination and marginalisation. They joined the University of Kent in 2017 as a PhD student/GTA and is now an HPL. Whilst Robin Rose’s research aims to improve LGBTQ+ inclusivity, they are equally passionate about teaching Undergraduate and Postgraduate students the skills to become reflexive, curious, and compassionate social researchers. Robin Rose has a background in mental health care, social work, and sociology, and their interest lies in working with artistic methodologies. Their chapter “Forms of Bisexual Injustice: Bi, being, and becoming a knower” can be read in the 2020 anthology Bisexuality in Europe (eds. Maliepaard & Baumgartner, Routledge).
